Cameron Waters claimed a thrilling victory in the second Supercars race of the season, narrowly outpacing Broc Feeney by just 0.03 seconds in Sydney. This marks Waters’ second consecutive win from pole position, though this race proved to be far more competitive than the previous night’s dominance.

Entering the final corners in second place, Waters nudged Feeney before overtaking him in a dramatic finish, showcasing remarkable racing strategy and skill. However, the race was not without controversy; Waters had earlier spun Feeney at turn four during their battle for the lead but was not penalised by officials. In a gesture to avoid further complications, Waters allowed Feeney to retake his position, which led to additional competition from Feeney’s teammate, Will Brown.

As the race approached its climax, Waters utilised fresher tyres to catch up with Feeney, positioning himself for the critical overtake. Despite being hit by Brown, he managed to capitalise on a side draft effect that propelled him to victory, much to the delight of his team.

Reflecting on the race, Waters stated he enjoyed the intense competition, admitting that the incident at turn four was largely his fault. He expressed his satisfaction with how the race unfolded, declaring it a great show for fans. The weekend concluded with another 200km race scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
