Activision has unveiled the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, marking the latest chapter in the renowned FPS series. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, this new entry is set in 2035, incorporating advanced technology while maintaining the franchise’s hallmark gameplay.
This iteration represents a significant shift from its predecessor, aiming to set itself apart in the competitive gaming landscape. Players can look forward to a fully cooperative campaign, which can be enjoyed solo or with up to three friends. The campaign introduces a vast new hub city named Avalon and features a replayable Endgame mode, extending its longevity beyond the main narrative.
Multiplayer options are robust, launching with 16 traditional 6v6 maps, in addition to two expansive 20v20 arenas. A novel Skirmish mode adds an exciting twist, integrating elements like wingsuits, grappling hooks, vehicular combat, and multi-objective scenarios.
The beloved Zombies mode also returns, boasting the largest map seen in the series, alongside a revival of Survival maps from earlier Black Ops titles.
Black Ops 7 is set for release on November 14 and will be available on the day of launch via Game Pass, enhancing its accessibility. Gamers eager to test the waters can participate in a beta starting October 2, with early access granted to those who pre-order or subscribe.
This announcement follows shortly after interest generated by the Battlefield 6 beta, which received accolades for its expansive destructible environments and warfare dynamics. While both franchises have carved distinct niches—Battlefield focusing on large-scale sandbox battles and Black Ops emphasising narrative-driven cooperative experiences and refined multiplayer gameplay—the question remains: can Call of Duty keep pace with its competitors’ growing momentum?
