New South Wales (NSW) is bracing for another round of severe weather, with fresh warnings for damaging winds issued by the Bureau of Meteorology. Today, these strong winds are expected to affect the southeastern and central regions of the state, particularly impacting areas such as Sydney, Wollongong, and Newcastle.

Residents in specific locales, including Wollongong, Nowra, Kiama, Ulladulla, Sydney Airport, Campbelltown, Goulburn, Bowral, Katoomba, Newcastle, and Maitland, are likely to experience the worst of the conditions. Wind gusts may hit as high as 100 km/h in parts of the Illawarra and South Coast ranges, as well as the eastern regions of the Central and Southern Tablelands.

In Sydney, the metropolitan area can expect damaging winds reaching up to 90 km/h from this afternoon. Newcastle will also see similar wind speeds. Additional strong winds are anticipated across the Snowy Mountains, the ACT, and the South West Slopes above 1300 metres.

The NSW State Emergency Service has advised residents to take precautions. It is recommended that cars parked on the street be moved away from trees and that any loose items in yards are securely tied down to prevent them from becoming dangerous projectiles.

Conditions are expected to improve by tomorrow morning, bringing some relief from the severe winds.
