Starting June 25, 2025, travellers from Adelaide to Bali will benefit from more affordable direct flights, as Indonesia AirAsia launches its new route. The low-cost airline will operate flights four times a week, offering fares starting at just $199, making Bali more accessible to over 74,000 South Australians annually, as reported by Adelaide Airport officials.
The direct flights will be operated on an Airbus A320-200, with departures scheduled at 11:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Return flights will leave Bali at 7:50 AM local time on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Veranita Yosephine, Chief Executive of Indonesia AirAsia, expressed excitement about entering the Adelaide market, highlighting Australia as a key growth area for the airline following its recent expansions into Cairns, Darwin, and Perth.
Currently, the only airline offering direct flights from Adelaide to Bali is Jetstar. Virgin Australia previously provided this service before discontinuing it last year. Bali remains a highly sought-after destination for South Australian travellers, with significant demand for low-cost flights, according to Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport.
As travellers prepare for this new offering, it presents an opportunity for more competition in the market. With Jetstar’s prices ranging from $279 to $608 for similar flights, the introduction of Indonesia AirAsia is expected to provide a more budget-friendly option for those planning their trips to the popular holiday hotspot.
