A man from Brisbane has been fined $1,700 after making a bomb threat during a flight in which he was travelling under a false identity. He was removed from the aircraft before authorities discovered that he was using a friend’s name to board. Prior to this incident, he also travelled from Hobart to Sydney under the same alias.

Upon searching the plane, authorities found that the bomb threat was unfounded. The man faced charges for flying with a ticket that was not his own and for providing fake information at the airport. He has since admitted guilt to both charges.

Detective Acting Inspector Trevor Robinson of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) stressed the importance of accurate identification for all passengers to maintain aviation safety. “Knowing who is actually on board is essential,” he stated, adding that the use of fraudulent identities could potentially enable individuals to evade law enforcement and engage in illegal activities while traveling between states. The AFP is committed to collaborating with airlines to prevent any actions that may compromise air security.
