Sharks playmaker Braydon Trindall has expressed his intention to “repay” the club after they offered him a three-year contract extension despite his serious driving offences. His 2024 NRL season was overshadowed by incidents involving failed alcohol and drug tests while driving with an expired licence, which led to his appearance in Sutherland Local Court and a five-match suspension.
On November 1, coinciding with his first day as a free agent, Trindall re-signed with the Sharks until the end of 2028. He acknowledged the importance of this contract, particularly following a challenging season, stating, “I never really wanted to leave the Sharks, and they’ve put their trust in me, so hopefully I can repay them with some good footy.”
Although Trindall and his halves partner Nicho Hynes will not participate in the Sharks’ pre-season opener against the Warriors, he will be pivotal for the team as they aim for another strong season after reaching the 2024 preliminary finals. Trindall candidly admitted feeling uncertain about his NRL future due to his actions, but is focused on making a successful return to the game. The Sharks are set to face the Raiders in their second pre-season match, followed by their premiership opener against the Panthers in Las Vegas on March 2, AEDT.
