A man’s body was discovered in a lake in the Hunter region of New South Wales during a search operation for a missing fisherman. The police received a call around 4pm concerning an 82-year-old man who had not returned from his fishing outing at Summerland Point on the shores of Lake Macquarie, approximately 130 kilometres north of Sydney.
The search commenced after his abandoned boat was located, with officers receiving assistance from Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving NSW. Tragically, a helicopter involved in the search located the body in the water around 7.40pm.
