Firefighters are investigating a significant warehouse fire in inner Melbourne, using drones to help determine its cause. The two-storey building was completely consumed by flames, and there are concerns that an adjacent property may have also sustained damage.
Around 80 firefighters were dispatched to combat the fire, which erupted early in the morning on Doonside Street and was brought under control shortly after 5am. The response involved several fire crews working diligently to manage the situation.
As a result of the blaze, parts of nearby Burnley Street have been closed off, and authorities warn that these closures are expected to last several hours. The precise cause of the fire remains undetermined, with investigations ongoing. Firefighters are employing drones to survey the interior of the severely damaged warehouse to gather more information about the incident.
At this stage, it is still unclear whether the fire was of suspicious nature.
