A significant fire has devastated the main stage at Belgium’s Tomorrowland music festival site just two days before the highly anticipated event was set to commence, according to festival organisers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Local media and social media outlets shared alarming images showing flames and thick black smoke engulfing the stage and spreading into the adjacent woodlands. The festival, held annually in Boom, located north of Brussels, attracts tens of thousands of attendees from across Europe. Reports indicate that the main stage has almost completely burnt down, and while emergency services are on-site, the fire remains uncontrolled at this time.

At the time of the fire, about 1,000 staff members were present, all of whom were successfully evacuated. However, festival-goers had not yet arrived. Organisers assured in a statement that the “DreamVille” campsite would still open on schedule on Thursday, expressing their commitment to finding solutions for the festival weekend ahead.

Their official announcement noted, “Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged,” while also confirming that no injuries occurred during the blaze.

Morgan Hermans, a local resident, described her immediate reaction to the unfolding situation. Initially drawn outside by the sound of fireworks, she was greeted by a troubling sight of smoke and flames nearby, which she found quite alarming. “It’s one of the biggest events in the entire year. Our town is very small, so welcoming people from all over the world is crazy and so much fun,” she remarked, noting the shared concern among the local community.

Local police have issued a plea on social media, urging the public to avoid the smoke and allow emergency responders to manage the situation effectively. Overall, while the fire poses a significant challenge to the festival’s commencement, organisers remain focused on maintaining the spirit of Tomorrowland as they work towards solutions in the lead-up to the event.
