Today, he began his charitable initiative at Coles Nerang on the Gold Coast, where eager shoppers formed long queues, extending outside the store. Following this, Portelli continued his giveaway at Coles Redbank Plaza.
Lines started forming early, with some individuals arriving at 7am, all hoping to secure $200 Coles gift cards. The enthusiastic response highlighted the ongoing challenges many face financially. One shopper noted, “We’re all doing it tough, so he’s come at the right time,” reflecting the sentiment of many in line. Another person, a pensioner, expressed immense gratitude, indicating the gift would greatly enhance their Easter celebrations with family.
Despite the early rush, several latecomers arrived around 9am and still managed to receive gift cards, underscoring the magnitude of Portelli’s generosity. In total, he distributed approximately $140,000 worth of gift cards throughout the day, aimed at alleviating the pressure of rising living costs. Portelli commented on the situation, emphasising that if one has the resources, it is worthwhile to assist those less fortunate.
The billionaire took to social media to announce that his next giveaway is scheduled for tomorrow at 10am at Coles in Lismore Square Shopping Centre, northern NSW, promising to continue his mission of providing financial relief to those in need.
