Kris Lovelock, a former police officer accused of murdering Sydney couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, is now at the centre of a civil lawsuit regarding an arrest from June 2020. During the incident in Paddington, Lovelock was pursued and Tasered three times by officer Beau Lamarre-Condon in a park. It has come to light that Lovelock is seeking compensation from the state of New South Wales for the way he was arrested.
Despite subsequent scrutiny into Lamarre-Condon’s conduct, both a magistrate and an internal police investigation found his actions were lawful at the time. Lovelock, who has prior convictions for offences including intimidating a police officer, has initiated this civil claim as questions surrounding the arrest persist.
As the case is set to be heard in June, there is potential for NSW Police to defend Lamarre-Condon in a civil court. This legal battle unfolds almost four years after Lamarre-Condon was charged with the murders of Baird and Davies, subsequent to which he was dismissed from the police force, raising further complications regarding accountability and conduct within the police.
