Lyndoch Oval has undergone a significant $45.7 million renovation, completing its upgrade on schedule and within budget, just in time for its debut during the Gather Round. The revamped facility is equipped to host its inaugural AFL match, boasting an impressive transformation that has garnered positive feedback from the community.

William Pitt from the Barossa Districts Football Club expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The oval feels lovely, and the grass is spectacular. It’s top-notch!” This sentiment is reflected across the region, as the project has also stimulated local economy, with 97% of the work carried out by South Australian companies. Barossa Mayor Bim Lange praised the swift transformation, noting the remarkable progress made in less than 11 months.

A key feature of the renovation is the strategic rotation of the main oval by 15 degrees, which beautifully aligns with the scenic backdrop of the Barossa Hills. “This is a great opportunity for South Australia, particularly the Barossa Valley, to showcase itself nationally and leave a lasting impact,” said Premier Peter Malinauskas, highlighting the significance of the upcoming event.

As the stage is set, an anticipated 10,000 football fans are expected to flock to the Barossa Valley for the two Gather Round matches at Lyndoch Oval. The renovations not only enhance the sporting experience but also represent a proud moment for the local community.
