Former New Zealand netball captain Casey Kopua, known for being a formidable opponent to the Australian team, believed her competitive career concluded with the 2019 Netball World Cup final. However, just 18 days before turning 40, Casey was unexpectedly approached for a return to the sport. Having embraced motherhood with two additional children and found her footing in life beyond netball, she was taken aback when her former mentor, now the coach of the New South Wales Giants, Julie Fitzgerald, came calling for her talents.
