Josh Giddey delivered an impressive performance for the Chicago Bulls, scoring a season-high 29 points and securing 10 rebounds in their 121-103 victory over the Indiana Pacers, marking their third consecutive win. Unfortunately, Giddey’s night took a troubling turn as he sustained a right ankle injury midway through the fourth quarter.
The 22-year-old Australian was injured after attempting to grab a rebound, landing awkwardly and showing immediate signs of distress as he left the game. Bulls coach Billy Donovan confirmed that Giddey had suffered a sprained ankle, with reports suggesting he was seen wearing a moon boot post-game. His frustration was evident as he made his way to the locker room.
In spite of this setback, Giddey’s teammates remained optimistic about his condition. Coby White, who also scored 29 points in the match, commented on Giddey’s resilience, saying, “We asked him after the game, he said he was cool. He’s a tough guy. He’s got that Australian toughness in him. He’ll be alright.”
There is concern, however, given that Giddey seems to have reinjured the same ankle that caused him difficulties during the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, the Bulls are currently positioned in the final play-in spot for the Eastern Conference playoffs. On the opposing side, the Pacers, led by Myles Turner with 15 points, have now lost their last three games, which coincided with the absence of point guard Tyrese Haliburton due to a hip injury.
