New research commissioned by the NRMA has revealed that parking fees in Australia’s major capital cities significantly surpass those in various US cities. This information was highlighted in the NRMA’s “Parkin’ Mad” report, which urges the need for action to alleviate the financial burden on Australians who rely on road commuting.
The study conducted a comparative analysis of average all-day parking charges in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, alongside similar-sized American cities such as San Diego, Boston, San Francisco, and Seattle. The results, adjusted to Australian dollars, clearly illustrate the disparity in parking costs.
The NRMA’s findings indicate a pressing need for reforms in the parking sector to prevent Australians from being excessively charged. With these insights, the organisation calls for government intervention to address the issue of parking affordability.
