Aubrey Plaza has expressed her deep sorrow following the tragic death of her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, who died by suicide at the age of 47. In a statement to People magazine, Plaza described the situation as "an unimaginable tragedy" and requested privacy during this difficult time.
Baena, known for his work on projects like Life After Beth and I Heart Huckabees, had been in a relationship with Plaza since 2011 and married her in 2021. They collaborated on several creative ventures, including The Little Hours, Cinema Toast, and Spin Me Round. Reflecting on their partnership, Baena once praised the unique connection they shared, stating that it made their collaboration incredibly fulfilling.
Plaza originally planned to attend the Golden Globe Awards, where her absence was noted by director Brady Corbet, who dedicated part of his acceptance speech to her and Baena’s family. Baena is survived by Plaza, his parents, stepparents, and siblings.
