In two months, gamers will eagerly await the release of the latest addition to the Assassin’s Creed series, titled Shadows. This pivotal launch for Ubisoft comes after several delays, leading early impressions to suggest it could be a significant entry in the franchise.
Set against the backdrop of feudal Japan, Shadows features two principal characters: the samurai Yasuke and the stealthy shinobi Naoe, promising players an expansive and intricate game world. Recently, 9news.com.au attended a preview event in Sydney, hosted by Ubisoft, where Luc Plante, the lead level designer, shared insights about the game’s development and its historical depth.
Plante highlighted the effort put into scaling the game’s environment to mimic Assassin’s Creed Origins, while also ensuring realism through consultations with Japanese historians. He expressed that a deep understanding of Japan’s culture was integral to the design process. Plante even attempted to learn Japanese, acknowledging its challenges, but noted that some team members quickly picked it up.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch on March 20 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, promising a unique experience in the beloved franchise.
