Apple has unveiled a new iPhone model, the iPhone 16e, priced at $999. While many iPhone users lean towards premium devices, Apple’s past offerings like the iPhone SE have catered to the sub-$1000 market. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, hinted at this launch, emphasising the addition of a new family member.
The iPhone 16e is designed similarly to the iPhone 16, featuring the same screen technology and an A18 chip, plus it is the first to utilise Apple’s in-house modem. Notably, it lacks advanced features like the Dynamic Island and ultra-wide camera found in pricier models. Instead, it boasts a single 48MP camera and retains the familiar notch design.
One significant feature of the iPhone 16e is its impressive battery life, boasting a remarkable 26-hour video playback capability, topping all previous 6.1-inch models. Additionally, it integrates Apple Intelligence, offering sophisticated writing tools and summarisation features.
Despite being a higher price point than the SE, the iPhone 16e promises excellent value through its capabilities. Pre-orders start tomorrow, with sales commencing on February 28.
