An upcoming anti-establishment protest in Sydney will no longer disrupt traffic on the Sydney Harbour Bridge due to a successful agreement reached between police and organisers. The protest, organised by members of Australia Unites—who are associated with both the anti-vaccination and sovereign citizen movements—will proceed on foot, starting at Hyde Park and traversing through the central business district.
Originally, the protest route was slated to cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge, but police intervened by filing a motion to block this path in the Supreme Court. Following discussions, police have now withdrawn their legal filing, allowing the march to take place.
The organisers have stated that the rally aims to unite Australians in addressing pressing issues such as escalating cost-of-living concerns, deteriorating health outcomes, increasing violence, and what they perceive as exploitation by financial institutions through tax measures and environmental policies that prioritise corporate interests over citizens’ needs. Their message underscores a collective sense of disillusionment with current authorities, suggesting that a “vote of no confidence” is a reflection of the diminishing trust in leadership.
The protest is framed as an urgent call for change, indicating that there is a growing discontent that has the potential to reshape the political landscape. The communication from organisers highlights that although the current leadership may survive politically, their influence is waning, suggesting the momentum for change is already in motion.
Importantly, the organisers have pledged a zero-tolerance approach to racism and violence, explicitly stating that extremist groups, including neo-Nazis, will not be permitted at the event. The list of organisations coordinating the protest includes The People’s Revolution, MMAMV, My Place Australia, along with advocate Craig Cole. MMAMV is known for promoting “vaccine education” and opposing pharmaceutical companies, while My Place Australia advocates for a detachment from the established system, endorsing principles like free will and free speech.
Craig Cole’s initiative, “Leave the Kids Alone,” focuses on opposing what he terms “radical gender theory.” As the date of the protest approaches, police are finalising measures to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.
In summary, while initial plans for the protest included a significant route across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, changes have been made following negotiations with law enforcement. The protest will now take place in the city centre, focusing on various societal issues while reaffirming a commitment to inclusivity and safety.
