Ange Postecoglou delivered a powerful message to Tottenham’s chairman and fans as he celebrated their Europa League triumph with approximately 150,000 enthusiastic supporters during an open-top bus parade through north London. The Australian manager, alongside his players, rode atop a double-decker bus marked with “Europa League winners,” making their way to the club’s stadium amidst a sea of adoring fans.
The atmosphere was electric as supporters chanted “glory, glory Tottenham Hotspur,” with captain Son Heung-min proudly holding the trophy aloft. Postecoglou and the team, adorned with medals, waved enthusiastically at the crowd.
Following the match, Postecoglou had already made headlines with a memorable remark, declaring, “this victory is for the true believers.” He later shared a moment deemed a “mic drop” on social media, reinforcing his connection to the supporters. “I told them and they laughed. I told them and they didn’t believe,” he began, acknowledging the incredible group of players and staff that made the victory possible. He praised individuals like Son Heung-min, Cuti Romero, James Maddison, and Guglielmo Vicario as heroes who earned this win for the devoted fans and the club.
Postecoglou concluded his address with a cryptic line, “All the best television series, season three is better than season two,” which prompted loud cheers from the crowd, likely aimed at Chairman Daniel Levy, who was present.
This parade marked Tottenham’s first trophy celebration since the 1991 FA Cup and their most significant win since the 2008 League Cup. Currently, however, Postecoglou’s squad is facing a challenging season, sitting at 17th in the Premier League and just above the relegation zone, threatening to record their worst finish since the 1976-77 season.
