Ambulance Victoria has issued an important alert, requesting that the public only utilise their services for life-threatening emergencies, as paramedics are bracing for an exceptionally busy night. Given the combination of sweltering weather and significant events, including the Formula One Grand Prix and football matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Marvel Stadium, demand for ambulance services is expected to soar.
At the Grand Prix in Albert Park, over 136,000 attendees will be present, with an additional 100,000 football fans heading to the nearby stadiums. As a result, all paramedic crews are currently deployed. Ambulance Victoria highlighted that their paramedics are dedicated and working diligently, with as many ambulances as possible on the road.
In light of these circumstances, residents are urged to reserve the Triple-Zero (000) service strictly for genuine emergencies. By doing so, they can help ensure that ambulances are available for those who truly need immediate assistance. For situations that are not life-threatening, Ambulance Victoria recommends alternative options such as the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED), local Urgent Care Clinics, or Nurse-On-Call services.
This proactive approach aims to manage the heightened demand effectively while ensuring emergency services can respond promptly to critical situations.
