Aldi has issued a recall for a specific brand of wholefood balls due to concerns about possible metal contamination. The warning affects four varieties produced by Made Real, which could pose health risks if consumed.
The recall targets Made Real’s 69-gram cashew, cocoa, and berry wholefood balls with expiry dates of July 3, July 4, July 15, and July 16, alongside the 184-gram version with dates of September 3 and September 4. Additionally, the 69-gram peanut butter and caramel flavour, with expiration dates of April 16, April 17, May 20, May 21, July 9, and July 10, is also impacted, along with the 184-gram version marked with May 19, May 21, August 5, August 6, and September 5.
Consumers are advised against consuming these products and should return them to the point of purchase to receive a full refund. Anyone with health concerns resulting from potentially consuming these items is encouraged to seek medical advice.
The issue was brought to light after Tasti, the producer, identified that the potential metal contamination was linked to “exceptionally thin metal wire” from imported raw materials. Although Tasti employs metal detection processes for their products, they acknowledged that this particular type of wire is extremely fine and not easily detected.
This recall serves as a crucial reminder for consumers and highlights the importance of food safety measures.
