This morning in Adelaide, a car collided with five vehicles on a busy road during peak hour, leading to considerable traffic delays and substantial property damage. Exclusive CCTV footage obtained by 9News shows the incident unfolding around 9:30 am.
Witness Roman Mukhi reported the Mazda was travelling at an estimated speed of 100km/h before the crash. One of the affected drivers, 84-year-old Rosslyn Laidlaw, recounted the moment the collision occurred, describing a loud bang followed by successive impacts, with her hairdresser commenting on the chaos involving multiple cars.
Prior to the collisions, witnesses noted the Mazda’s erratic driving, which included swerving on the median strip before it eventually stopped on the opposite side of the road. Remarkably, there were no reported injuries despite the severity of the incident. The 79-year-old driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure but did not show signs of serious injury.
Traffic flows were hindered in both directions for several hours as emergency services worked at the scene, and all vehicles involved were towed away before midday. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crashes.
