Two of Adelaide’s top venues are set to open their doors a week ahead of the Fringe Festival’s official start. Gluttony promises a grander experience this year, while the Garden of Unearthly Delights has performers ready for action. Michelle Buxton, director of the Garden, stated that despite slight changes to the Fringe dates, they opted for a mid-February commencement, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, which she deemed an ideal opening day.
The festivities at the Garden kick off at 2pm tomorrow, while Gluttony will unveil three venues this weekend before showcasing its revamped lakeside area on Thursday. According to Gluttony’s director, Daniel Michael, this year boasts the largest collection of shows, bars, and food vendors to date.
To address rising costs, organisers have worked diligently to maintain ticket, food, and drink prices similar to last year’s rates. Buxton expressed their commitment to affordability, ensuring a majority of entertainment within the garden remains free. Gluttony will continue to have free entry, while the Garden, typically charging $5 from Friday to Sunday, will also waive its fee for this weekend.
