Adelaide’s Izak Rankine is facing an investigation by the AFL following claims of a slur directed at a Collingwood player during a tightly contested match at Adelaide Oval. The incident reportedly occurred during the thrilling encounter on Saturday, where the Crows narrowly defeated the Magpies by three points. Throughout the match, Rankine had a notable performance, accumulating 18 disposals and scoring one goal.

While neither the AFL nor Adelaide has officially confirmed the investigation, reports from The Age indicate that inquiries are underway. The league has a history of imposing suspensions on players for inappropriate remarks made on the field.

Rankine, who is 25 years old, made the switch to Adelaide from Gold Coast at the beginning of 2023. Currently, the Crows are positioned at the top of the AFL ladder and are set to face North Melbourne in their final game before a bye prior to the finals.
