An individual, reportedly a fraudster, has been apprehended in Australia after allegedly breaching bail conditions in the United States. The 32-year-old, identified as Paul Sorin Kimpian, was arrested while waiting at a bus stop in Albany Creek, Queensland.

Authorities suggest that Kimpian may have multiple aliases, including Jean Paul Fontaine, and is known in the US as Roman Janecek. He faces serious allegations of financial fraud, specifically targeting vulnerable individuals with cloned welfare cards in California. Following his charges in 2023, Kimpian was released on a $50,000 bail but reportedly removed his GPS ankle monitor and vanished.

After fleeing to Australia, he was suspected of residing in various locations such as Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and possibly Cairns. Upon his arrest, he was charged with multiple offences, including fraud, theft, forgery of a passport, and possession of a counterfeit passport. Kimpian’s case was mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, where he indicated a willingness to plead guilty. A sentencing date has been established for September.

Cooperation with international law enforcement is ongoing, as investigations continue. Authorities are encouraging anyone with relevant information about Kimpian to come forward.
