Residents along Australia’s east coast are being advised to prepare for a week of significant rainfall, with many needing to carry umbrellas. A low-pressure system forming in the Tasman Sea, combined with a tropical low developing near the Solomon Islands, is set to usher in a series of wet days, according to Weatherzone.

Rainfall predictions indicate that coastal areas of New South Wales and Queensland could receive between 30mm and 70mm, with some locations potentially recording up to 100mm. This unsettled weather pattern has prompted the Bureau of Meteorology to issue hazardous surf warnings for regions including K’gari, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast.

The heaviest rainfall is expected on Thursday and Friday, with precipitation forecasts extending from the South Coast of NSW up to Queensland’s northern goldfields. Thunderstorms are also likely during this period, particularly in southern Queensland and northeast NSW.

Conditions are anticipated to improve by Saturday as the low-pressure system moves towards New Zealand, although forecasters warn that a new trough may develop, potentially bringing additional rain to the east coast shortly after.
