Karoline Leavitt, newly appointed as White House Press Secretary, made headlines during her debut press conference on January 28, 2025. At just 27, she is the youngest person to hold this position and boldly announced new media policies, allowing podcasters and influencers press credentials while criticising traditional media for spreading misinformation about President Trump.

A New Hampshire native, Leavitt’s career began with a Fox News internship, later serving in the White House Press Office under Kayleigh McEnany. After Trump’s presidency ended in 2020, she worked as a communications director for Congressman Elise Stefanik before running for Congress herself in 2022.

Leavitt graduated with degrees in communications and political science from Saint Anselm College, where she became known for her strong pro-Trump stance. During her first press conference, she proclaimed, “President Trump is back, and the Golden Age of America has most definitely begun,” and revealed that 440 previously revoked media passes would be reinstated.

Biographically, Leavitt is married to Nicholas Riccio, a successful real estate agent, and they have a son named Nicholas, born in July 2024. Despite the challenges posed by Trump’s security concerns after a near-assassination attempt, she chose to continue her role instead of taking maternity leave. Leavitt reportedly earns around $US180,000 for her position, reflecting the typical salary for such a role under previous administrations.
