A rescue operation is currently underway in Sydney’s north following an incident involving a teenager who was swept off rocks and into a dangerous blowhole. Emergency services were alerted around 1:15pm after a bystander heard cries for help and immediately called Triple Zero. Reports indicate that the young boy, in his early teens, was playing near the blowhole when he was struck by waves and knocked into the turbulent waters below.

Rescue teams have managed to reach the boy at the base of a cave under the blowhole, where he is receiving treatment for various injuries, including cuts to his legs and a head injury. The rescue effort involves scaling a steep cliff to access the area where he was found.

Authorities have confirmed that he is expected to be hoisted out of the cave shortly via a winch system designed for such emergencies. The situation highlights the potential dangers associated with natural features like blowholes, especially during rough weather conditions.

A reminder to the public about the risks of venturing near such areas has been issued, emphasising the importance of safety.
