In a significant police operation, three men have been charged following an alleged kidnapping plot in Western Sydney. The incident unfolded when police noticed the men, all clad in balaclavas, fleeing from a vehicle in North Parramatta last month.
At the scene, a 30-year-old man was promptly arrested, while a 34-year-old was apprehended in the vicinity. Authorities reported that the older man was attempting to conceal evidence by wiping down the car. Upon inspection, police discovered incriminating items, including duct tape, zip tie cuffs, a baseball bat, and various mobile phones.
Both men were taken to Parramatta police station, where they faced charges, including breaching bail conditions. The 34-year-old further drew charges for obstructing the search for evidence. As the investigation progressed, detectives identified a targeted individual—a 36-year-old man from Carlingford. Upon interviewing him, police found a GPS tracker hidden on his vehicle, linking him to the alleged kidnapping scheme.
Authorities indicated that the intended kidnapping was planned to occur in Mays Hill, with a secondary location in Homebush identified as a potential holding site for the victim. At the Mays Hill location, police found further evidence, including packaging for GPS trackers, disposable gloves, duct tape, and cable ties.
The investigation led officers to a property in Bankstown, where they detained a 36-year-old man. During his arrest, he reportedly resisted and attempted to discard two shotguns over a balcony. He sustained injuries in the process and was hospitalised briefly before being transferred to Bankstown Police Station. Here, he faced an extensive list of charges, including conspiracy to kidnap, unlawful installation of a tracking device, and multiple weapon-related offences. This man was denied bail and made an appearance in court shortly after.
The police remain committed to thorough investigation, suggesting that further developments in the case may arise as they continue to gather evidence. This operation highlights the efficiency and alertness of law enforcement in combating serious crimes and ensuring community safety.
