Notorious child murderer Arthur Freeman has been hospitalised following an assault in prison. The incident occurred yesterday at the Western Plains Correctional Centre in Lara, near Geelong, prompting an ongoing investigation by detectives.

Freeman sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment. He is serving a life sentence for the horrific murder of his four-year-old daughter, Darcey, who he tragically threw off Melbourne’s West Gate Bridge in January 2009, just before her first day of school.

Since being sentenced to a non-parole period of 32 years in April 2011, Freeman has been incarcerated in a maximum-security facility. This is not the first time he has encountered violence within the prison; in 2011, he was reportedly involved in a fight with other inmates, allegedly reacting aggressively to the ongoing abuse he faced from fellow prisoners.

As authorities continue their investigation into the recent assault, Freeman’s criminal history and the circumstances surrounding his imprisonment remain under scrutiny.
