A 63-year-old man is in critical condition after being allegedly attacked with a hammer by a woman at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, Sydney, early this morning. Authorities received reports of the assault around 12.15am, prompting a swift police response.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the man had been struck in the head while lying in his hospital bed, resulting in severe injuries. It is understood that the man and the 46-year-old woman involved were known to each other.
The woman was apprehended at the scene and subsequently taken to Newtown Police Station, where she faces charges of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. She is due to appear in court today after being denied bail.
