A heartbroken wife has shared her anguish as her husband, Rayden, fights for his life following a tragic hit-and-run incident outside their Clyde North home in Melbourne’s southeast. The father-of-four has been in an induced coma since the attack occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in serious brain injuries after being struck by a dark-coloured vehicle.
For nearly a week, Courtney Storm has remained by her husband’s hospital bedside. Describing Rayden as “the best dad in the world,” she highlighted his selfless nature and the love he receives from family and friends. “He truly puts others before himself,” she conveyed, expressing disbelief at the violent act he suffered.
The incident transpired shortly after Rayden had spent a joyous evening celebrating his father’s engagement. According to Courtney, he stepped outside for just five to ten minutes when the assailant, who had reportedly shouted abusive remarks before making a U-turn, struck him. Despite the efforts of those nearby to assist Rayden, the driver fled the scene.
Detectives are conducting an investigation to locate the vehicle involved, while Courtney insists her family did not recognise the individuals in the car, suspecting it was a random act of violence. She reflected on Rayden’s character, noting he is not vengeful and would rather choose forgiveness for those that hurt him.
Though Rayden faces a prolonged recovery, the specifics of his long-term prognosis remain uncertain. Courtney’s focus now is on supporting her husband through this challenging period.
