Melbourne Storm forward Tui Kamikamica has been admitted to hospital after experiencing a suspected stroke on Monday morning. The club has confirmed that the 31-year-old prop is currently recovering under the care of medical specialists in the hospital, with support from the Storm’s own medical team.

Kamikamica, originally from Fiji, joined Melbourne in 2017 and has since made a significant impact on the team, racking up 142 appearances. Notably, he missed the 2020 grand final, in which the Storm triumphed over Penrith to secure the title. This season, he participated in all four games, either starting as lock or coming off the bench for the renowned coach Craig Bellamy’s squad. His most recent performance came during a disappointing loss to North Queensland, where he made nine runs in 25 minutes.

This concerning news comes amidst a tough period for Melbourne, which has seen several key players sidelined due to injury. Fellow forward Eli Katoa will be out for the remainder of the season following a severe head injury incurred while representing Tonga last year. Additionally, talented winger Xavier Coates is also out due to a long-term injury.

The Storm are set to face a challenging matchup against the in-form Penrith Panthers this Friday. Fans and team members alike are hoping for a swift recovery for Kamikamica as he receives the best possible care during this troubling time.
