Despite experiencing notable success in his football career, including a premiership win with the Sharks and triumphs in the State of Origin and World Cup, Holmes has faced significant hurdles.
In 2016, he found himself in controversy after being fined for public nuisance during a Queensland camp, leading to his removal from the Auckland Nines tournament. Nevertheless, he rebounded strongly and even pursued an NFL dream with the New York Jets.
