Taylan May’s upcoming court appearance has prompted interest from a Sydney-based NRL club seeking to assess his fitness. The ex-Panthers player is set to appear in court on March 10 following domestic violence charges that led to his suspension under the league’s no-fault stand-down policy.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that an unnamed NRL team has reached out to May regarding his current condition. The 23-year-old was dismissed by Penrith last year due to several incidents, including inappropriate social media behaviour and participating in a video while speeding. He received a confidential payout from the club upon his departure.

Despite his controversies, May is a talented player, having scored 17 tries in 30 first-grade games, and was once regarded as one of the brightest prospects in rugby league. His brother, Terrell, has recently signed with the Wests Tigers, while another sibling, Tyrone, competes in the Super League.

May had previously attempted to relocate to the UK but was unsuccessful in his pursuit. As he prepares for his court date, the interest from the unnamed club may signal a potential pathway back into professional rugby league, should the legal issues unfold in his favour.
