Jai Arrow has dismissed concerns about the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ ability to cope without key players Latrell Mitchell and Cameron Murray ahead of their match against the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium. Both stars sustained injuries during training, prompting the team to adapt their preparations as they aim to maintain their competitive edge.

Despite facing a potentially challenging journey to Queensland due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which is expected to make landfall with winds reaching 95 km/h, Arrow is optimistic. The Rabbitohs are scheduled to fly on Thursday, but Arrow expressed a willingness to depart earlier to avoid flying into adverse weather conditions.

With Murray sidelined, Cody Walker, who recently recovered from a calf injury, will take on the captaincy in his absence. Arrow observed that Walker’s experience will be invaluable, joking about his age and highlighting that it’s ultimately Walker’s decision to play based on his fitness level.

Adjustments in the team include Tallis Duncan and Lachlan Hubner vying for the lock position, while Jye Gray fills in for Mitchell at fullback. Arrow, confident in his own fitness, aims to take the field in the back row.

Despite significant changes, Arrow remains unfazed by external speculation regarding the Rabbitohs’ prospects. He acknowledged that, while the absence of such influential players could raise eyebrows, the team’s recent momentum from a productive pre-season is their primary focus. He stated that the culture within the squad supports a “next man up” mentality, allowing them to move past these setbacks swiftly.

Arrow underscored the importance of opportunity for other players stepping into these roles, emphasizing the excitement generated by the challenge. He is resolute that the Rabbitohs have the depth and resilience to adapt and deliver a strong performance, irrespective of the obstacles presented by injuries and adverse weather conditions.
