Two players from the Canberra Raiders are facing potential suspensions following their match against the Warriors in Las Vegas, where incidents on the field have led to disciplinary actions. Captain Joseph Tapine and winger Xavier Savage have both received notices from the match review committee regarding separate violations during their 30-8 victory.
In the second half, Tapine was penalised for a shoulder charge on Mitch Barnett, leading to a 10-minute sin bin and a subsequent two-match suspension following the classification of the incident as a level two offence.
Savage, on the other hand, has been issued a one-week suspension for dangerous contact against Chanel Harris-Tavita during the first half. If either player contests the charges and is unsuccessful, they will incur an additional week of suspension.
The Raiders may face further player absences in their upcoming home match against the Broncos, as Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies are also under scrutiny for an altercation encountered while returning to Australia.
In addition to the Raiders’ concerns, another incident from the second NRL game in Las Vegas involves Cronulla’s Briton Nikora, who has been charged with dangerous contact due to a heavy tackle on Nathan Cleary, which left the latter visibly shaken. Nikora’s charge was classified as grade one dangerous contact, resulting in a $1000 fine for him.
As the Raiders prepare for upcoming matches, the impact of these disciplinary actions remains to be seen as they look to maintain their form in the competition.
