Following a challenging professional boxing debut, Tyson Pedro quickly transitioned into a heartwarming father role. After triumphing over the previously undefeated Taimoor Khan, Pedro was visibly emotional, shedding tears as he held his daughter in his arms. The touching moment was captured on camera, showcasing his daughter rushing towards him while proudly wearing her ‘Vote for Pedro’ shirt.

Speaking after the fight at Penrith’s Panthers Leagues Club, the former UFC fighter expressed his satisfaction with the victory, stating, “I was able to shut some people’s mouths real quick.” He acknowledged the scepticism he faced when he made the switch from the UFC to boxing, asserting, “I’ve believed in myself since day one.” Pedro’s belief in his capabilities was validated as he delivered a seventh-round knockout against Khan, who had a record of 15-0.

Reflecting on his achievement, Pedro remarked, “Taking that win away is something special. I’m proud of myself. Fighting is where I feel calmest.” For over a year, Pedro had written in his notebook that he would become the WBC international bridgerweight champion, a goal that remained at the forefront of his mind throughout his training. His aspirations took a hit when his debut was delayed twice—first due to a fractured elbow and then because his opponent pulled out on fight day over a pay dispute.

Now, under the guidance of legendary Australian coach Jeff Fenech, Pedro has set his sights higher, even calling out Jake Paul for what he hopes will be his next significant fight. As he celebrated his victory, he indicated that he hadn’t anticipated such an easy win, saying, “I thought it was going to be a harder fight… I thought I would take a lot more hits.”

Pedro’s journey serves as an inspirational tale, transitioning from mixed martial arts to boxing while also cherishing the role of a devoted father. The warm reunion with his daughter after his win exemplifies the balance he seeks between the rigours of a competitive sport and the joys of family life.
