Warrington is set to kick off the opening match of the highly anticipated Las Vegas event against the Wigan Warriors this Saturday. Following his arrival, Burgess expressed his relief at finally being in the city and mentioned that he had to make an additional trip to London to expedite his visa approval.
Addressing the media, Burgess stated, “It’s good to be here,” highlighting his determination to overcome the challenges he faced. The delays stemmed from his previous criminal record, including driving offences in 2021, which mandated a routine interview process with the US consulate. Fortunately, the matter was resolved just in time for him to participate in this rugby spectacle.
Burgess conveyed confidence throughout the visa delay, remarking, “I knew I’d get here in the end; it just took a couple of days longer than expected.” As he prepares for the exciting matches ahead, he expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming games and excitement for the entire week.
Despite his visible eagerness, the 36-year-old admitted to feeling a bit anxious being apart from his squad during their time in an unfamiliar setting. “I’ve missed the guys; I felt a bit nervous that I wouldn’t be here and they were in a new place, new environment,” Burgess confided.
