Violence erupted at a Melbourne pub last night following an A-League match between Victory and City, with footage of the brawl circulating online. Approximately ten men were seen engaging in a physical confrontation, using bar stools, metal chairs, and umbrellas as weapons on Richmond’s Swan Street. The altercation occurred around 10.15pm; however, remarkably, no injuries were reported.
As police arrived at the scene, the groups dispersed, though a 27-year-old man was apprehended nearby and later released while inquiries continued. A spokesperson for Melbourne Victory acknowledged the incident, stating the club is cooperating with relevant authorities to investigate any potential connections to the derby. They made it clear that Melbourne Victory condemns all forms of violence and antisocial behaviour, adding that further comments would be withheld pending the ongoing police investigation.
