A woman in Berkeley, near Wollongong, successfully located her allegedly stolen car using her Apple AirPods. Faye Marie Luvillaranta realised her vehicle was missing on Thursday morning after it was taken from outside her home the previous night. Initially believing it might be a prank, she soon understood it was a theft.

Upon contacting a friend, Luvillaranta was reminded of the AirPods she had left in the car. Using the Find My app on her phone, she tracked her car to Illawarra Sports Stadium, not far from her location. Together with her friend, she drove to the stadium, only to find people inside her vehicle. Dashcam footage captured their moment of shock and fear, prompting them to call the police.

Authorities arrived shortly after and questioned the occupants, a 26-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl. The pair were arrested, with the younger individual released and the older taken for medical attention. Police suspect Luvillaranta discovered her vehicle right after it was involved in a collision with another car. The owner’s father reported the significant damage, stating the car was now a write-off. Ultimately, Luvillaranta’s vehicle has been returned to her. While the 26-year-old has yet to be charged, police indicated that actions would follow.
