A 41-year-old woman in South Australia has reportedly recorded one of the highest blood alcohol levels ever, reaching 0.434—nearly nine times over the legal limit. She was discovered asleep behind the wheel of her idling car at a Strathalbyn service station late at night. Health professionals warn that such a high alcohol concentration could be life-threatening for someone without alcohol dependency. Experts suggest it would require an average person to consume a drink every 15 minutes for five hours to reach this level, with over 30 hours needed to sober up.

Local resident Julie Paine expressed relief that the woman was parked rather than driving on the road. Following the incident, she is facing court charges that could result in significant fines, alongside a 12-month loss of her driver’s licence. This alarming episode highlights ongoing concerns regarding drunk driving and road safety.
