An unnamed woman recently retracted a civil lawsuit she had filed against rappers Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Sean “Diddy” Combs, which she had initially brought forth in December. The case stemmed from allegations that she was assaulted by both artists in 2000, after being offered a ride by Combs’ chauffeur to an MTV Video Music Awards after-party. Jay-Z, who has strongly denied the accusations and sought to be dismissed from the suit, expressed relief at the withdrawal, calling it a “victory” and labelling the claims as “laughable” and “fictional”. He characterised the lawsuit as baseless, noting that it never held any merit.
Meanwhile, Combs remains incarcerated in New York, facing a criminal trial related to federal sex trafficking allegations. He is also entangled in multiple sexual assault civil suits, many of which were lodged by attorney Tony Buzbee, representing over 150 individuals claiming to have experienced sexual abuse and exploitation at the hands of Combs. Buzbee has been approached for comments regarding the cases.
