Authorities were informed yesterday of damage to a marble statue of a soldier located in Walgett Memorial Park on Fox Street. Upon inspection, officers discovered that the statue’s arm had been harmed, and the marble rifle was missing. The damage is believed to have occurred sometime between Monday and Thursday of this week. This memorial statue, a significant piece, was originally imported from France in 1922. Police are appealing to the public for assistance; anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV recordings, or relevant information is encouraged to reach out to law enforcement or contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
