In 1959, with the endorsement of Mao Zedong, Puyi, the last Emperor of the Qing dynasty, transitioned to a regular apartment and started working as a street sweeper. While wandering in Peking, he encountered locals and introduced himself, expressing his plight of getting lost while visiting relatives. Later, he found employment as a gardener, a role he appreciated, yet he struggled to adapt to everyday life. Puyi often overlooked simple tasks; he would forget to turn off taps after washing his hands, and he commonly left doors ajar after entering rooms. His royal upbringing seemed to hinder his ability to engage with the mundane realities of common existence.
