An investigation is underway following an incident involving a 17-year-old boy who arrived at Bankstown Hospital in Sydney with a gunshot wound. Accompanied by an 18-year-old man, the teenager was admitted at 7:40 pm with a non-life-threatening injury to his right leg. Hospital staff alerted the police after realising he had been shot. Upon police arrival, both youths reportedly refused to cooperate with questioning.
The 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly hiding an indictable offence, assaulting two police officers, and resisting arrest, resulting in minor injuries to one officer. During investigations, police discovered a Blue Nissan Pulsar believed to be the vehicle used by the pair to reach the hospital.
Subsequently taken to Bankstown Police Station, the older youth allegedly made numerous threats against police officers. He now faces six charges, including concealing serious offences, resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, and intimidating police. He has been denied bail and is set to appear in Parramatta Local Court.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to reach out to Crime Stoppers or Bankstown Police Station.
