Meanwhile, the race for the Werribee seat remains highly contested, described by Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan as “very tight” and potentially decided down to the wire. Liberal Deputy Leader Sam Groth expressed optimism about their prospects in Werribee, noting the possibility of seizing the seat from Labor for the first time in decades due to a significant swing towards the Liberals. As of late last night, Labor’s candidate, John Lister, was slightly behind with 28.74 per cent of the primary vote against Liberal Steve Murphy’s 29.06 per cent.
