A brazen daylight theft occurred at Team18’s Melbourne headquarters, where CCTV captured the moment a mule car, used for pitstop practice, was stolen. The incident took place around 6:45 am on Australia Day, when thieves drove a truck through the front gates and accessed the workshop via a side door. Once inside, they quickly drove the modified pitstop car out, followed by the truck.
The stolen mule car, which features specialised modifications, such as adapted wheel hubs and equipment for pitstop procedures, is distinctive due to its large race numbers. During the break-in, the front gates were completely destroyed.
Team18 is urging anyone with information about the theft to reach out via email, offering a reward for tips leading to the car’s recovery. As expectations rise for the upcoming Supercars season, which starts in Sydney on February 21-23, Team18 is also preparing for a new driver lineup, with Anton de Pasquale joining David Reynolds.
