In a humorous twist, Beccy Webster, the landlady of Gedling Inn in Nottinghamshire, UK, found herself giving away an unexpected 300 pints of free beer after her local Premier League team, Nottingham Forest, achieved a stunning 7-0 victory against Brighton. The promotion, offering a free pint for each goal scored, resulted in a financial loss of ÂŁ1,500 (approximately A$3,000), but Webster has embraced the fallout, stating it’s been overwhelming yet positive, attracting attention from media around the globe.

Webster only announced the deal 45 minutes before the match, and while she initially expected the team to score a couple of goals, she was caught off guard while feeding her baby as the goals piled up. Despite her partner’s concerns about the financial implications, she opted to go through with the promotion, captivated by the jubilant atmosphere in the pub.

As patrons savoured their complimentary drinks, Webster admitted she temporarily forgot the potential hit to her profits. Now, she is hopeful for support from her brewery, mentioning that any contribution from Nottingham Forest’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, would be welcome. Nonetheless, she playfully suggested that if he visits, he should enjoy a free pint for his efforts.
